I've decided to post a music video each day. Why? Because I can! So, here's the first:

Today's video comes to us from a band that likes to play dress. At least, I think they do assuming from their name. Anyway, as Mike Check would say, "Here's The Pretenders right here on the WHACKER!!!!"

Today, we get a trilogy of music videos! Why? Well, they all sort of go together, considering they were all on the same album and filmed on the same set. Anyway, here's Dire Straits: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn3HKRnR2Cw (couldn't embed this one)

I've noticed that most of these videos I've been posting have come from the 1980s. So, to change things up a bit, here's a quintessential 1990s video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rog8ou-ZepEYes, that is Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby." That's probably not a video most of you would like to see. So, as a counterbalace, here's that song he sampled for his own song and claimed "wasn't the same" because of one tiny little ting:

The reason I'm posting today's video so late is because I had to work. Anyway, since I went to the 1990s yesterday, I'm going way back to the 1970s!!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=v--IqqusnNQ

For today's video, I knew I wanted to continue posting videos from the 1990s and 1970s to balance out all the videos from the 1980s I've been posting. However, I couldn't decide which decade. Luckily, there is a video that splits the difference, from 1997 (I think), here's the Smashing Pumpkins' "1979": www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4_C4yhl33g

Today's video has a hilarious story behind it. Back in the 1970s, Lou Reed wrote a song called "Perfect Day." 20 years later, the BBC decided to have a bunch of musicians, including Reed himself, to cover the song for some charity (and to promote the BBC). Nice idea, right? Not so fast, kemo sobe. There's something you should know about "Perfect Day." Basically, Lou Reed wrote two kinds of songs: songs about heroin and songs about transvestites. And, "Perfect Day" is not about transvestites. In the BBC's defense, it has never really been proven that "Perfect Day" is about heroin, but Reed was known to romanticize his drug use; and one could interpret that the song is just that by the lyrics. Anyway, here's the video:

For today's video, I knew I wanted to play "Learning To Fly." However, there are two songs with that name; and they're both pretty good. I just couldn't decide. Then, I figured: why not both? So, here they are: First, here's Pink Floyd's song: Now, here's the Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers' one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i0aF7QJ4wE (can't be embedded)
