Alright, so first thing's first; gameplay. Holy HELL, is it hard to get the grasp of. Since I'm so used to the PS2 versions and controls, it took me a while to get used to the idea of "Swing the remote around to attack and run, idiot". I'll at least give them credit for using the Wii remote's effect much like Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy, and they at least use the A and B buttons for grappling. So...what's the control pad do? I dunno yet.
Create-A-Wrestler mode, or as it's called now, "Create-A-Superstar") is what you expect. Good. This is the one thing that they almost always do right for the WWE games, and I'm glad ONE wrestling game on the Wii has it! The only problem is, however, that if you add a 'design' to the wrestler (ie Mike's lightning bolt shown up above), it won't let you play them online. Not that you're gonna need to use them right away online, since they start off so weak.
Speaking of online, it's not bad. it lets you customize matches for online play, though sometimes it won't come up in your favor, much like the stage selection in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I'll admit I won at least one match so far using MVP, but it's not bad. Just gotta hate those damn disconnections.
Haven't played Road to Wrestlemania mode just yet, but I HAVE played Career mode. All you do basically is fight wrestlers to gain star rankings, and if you get enough stars, you get a contendership match. Win the contendership match, get a title shot. Get a title shot...start all over again with another title. At least with CAWs you get to up their stats by a whole bunch, so they CAN actually play online.
Ah yeah, and get this. There IS a Create an Entrance mode for the Wii, except all it does is make you choose which poses you want the wrestlers to do. Also, I'm sick of the lack of a Towerhacker Bomb in these damn games.
Of course there's the unlockable wrestlers, and you're even given a code with the game on how to unlock him. Yes, this game allows CHEAT CODES. Whoda thunk?
One thing I hate is that they got rid of challenges and the locker room. Two things I enjoyed, and BAM, they're gone.
Okay, with all this stuff in mind, is SvR still a good game? Sure. It's also a better game than Impact, but the whole time I've never compared the two. Impact just has the tutorial videos and Story mode and a few other things. SvR at least has a shitload more of stuff than Impact does.
So, I believe this game is worth...an 8 out of 10.
